FIELD SITE #1: DISTURBED AREA
TRAIL CAMERA 1:
Sadly, upon our most recent visit to Field Site #1, we discovered that Trail Camera 1 was gone. Someone had actually cut down the tree at the place where the camera was attached, taking our camera, the protective lockbox it was housed in, and the Master Python lock that had secured it to the tree. What was even more upsetting to this group of 5th grade scientists? Just over two months of data collected on the SD card inside the camera was also gone! And, our field study of nearly eight months suddenly came to a halt...

Where Trail Camera #1 should have been located:
Our sad discovery this week:
There were many disappointed scientists...
But, they were determined to keep going! They had GRIT!! Our research may temporarily be on 'hold,' but we hope to continue with our study this spring, one way or another... STAY TUNED!

FIELD SITE #2: FOREST AREA
TRAIL CAMERA 2
Our trail camera captured 48 images at our Forest Area field site. We had a couple of visits from canine friends, a group of Discovery Southeast Folks (including our very own DSE Naturalist, Laurie Clough!), a quick descent of a Red Squirrel, and a few unknown camera triggers. Here are some of the highlights:
